Marlin Dunham

Selinsgrove Track Champ

In His Rookie Season

Filed Under: Marlin Dunham, Selinsgrove Speedway, Roadrunner, Championship

September 22, 2009

Marlin Dunham had one heck of a first year of racing.  In his first year behind the wheel of a Roadrunner at Selinsgrove Speedway, Dunham took home a feature win, set the record for fastest time around the historic Selinsgrove Oval in the Roadrunner division, and raced his way hard and fast to put the Dunham name on another Championship at the Snyder County track.

Here's the 69er on the first racing weekend of the season.  That quarter panel and door still looks cherry.  It didn't stay that way for long.

Marlin was involved in an "on track" incident that didn't knock the driver's confidence one bit.  Marlin would come back with a vengeance recording the fastest lap during time trials of the Roadrunner 20.

Selinsgrove Track Announcer, Steve Inch, interviewing "MD" after setting the Roadrunner fast time.

Marlin's brother, Scott Jr, made a valiant effort to out duel his brother for the Championship, but JR just came up a little short at the end of the season.

On August 1st, Marlin took home his first feature win with brother, Scott, right behind him in second.  On the left is proud Poppa, Scott Dunham Sr, who won Selinsgrove's Daredevil Championship in 1997.

It was a great year of trial and error and success for the Dunhams in 2009.  They continued to work hard on their set-ups, driving technique and won with tactfulness and class.
I'm just glad that we got to go along for that ride.

See ya' at the Banquet, Champ!
